Best soil for the cultivation of Ashwagandha
For improved cultivation of Ashwagandha, loamy, sandy or light red soil with good drainage is considered suitable. Whose pH is 7.5 to 8, then it proves to be very effective for Ashwagandha crops. Sowing of Ashwagandha Farming
Sowing of Ashwagandha crop is done in two ways. The first method is the queue method. In this, the plant-to-plant distance is kept at 5 cm and the line-to-line distance is 20 cm. The second is the spraying method – this method is better sowing. After light plowing, it is mixed with sand and sprinkled in the field. There are thirty to forty plants in one square meter.
Ashwagandha Plants Irrigation
Ashwagandha grown in Kharif season does not require irrigation. But for the crop done in Rabi season, Ashwagandha plants need 4 to 5 irrigations. The first irrigation is done 8 to 10 days after transplanting. For which it is considered best to use the drip method. The dolls after that have to be done at an interval of 20 to 25 days.
Ashwagandha Crop Weed Control
Ashwagandha crop does not require much weed control. For weed control by natural method, weeding of plants is done. The first hoeing of its field is done after 20 to 25 days. And do the second weeding only if needed. Apart from this, if you want to destroy weeds by chemical means. So for that you have to spray Glyphosate 1.5 KG, Triflurelin 2 KG, Isoproturan 0.5 in the field before sowing the seeds.
Ashwagandha Farming Digging, Yield and Benefits
Ashwagandha plants take 160 to 170 days to mature. When the leaves on its plants start turning yellow and falling, its roots are excavated during that time. Before digging the roots, apply water to the field. This will make it easier for the roots to come out. After this, uproot the Ashwagandha plants from the root. After uprooting the plants along with the root, cut them into small pieces and dry them properly in the sun and separate the seeds and leaves from the fruit. About 6 to 8 quintals of dry roots of Ashwagandha are produced from one hectare of land. And 50 KG seeds are obtained.
